Fluon® + Composites

Fluon+™ COMPOSITES

Fluon+™ COMPOSITES are adhesive fluoropolymers that can be combined and laminated with CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastics) and CFRTP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Thermo Plastics) for “plus alpha” performance. Fluoropolymer strengthened CFRTP/CFRP is spearheading groundbreaking development for the future of composite design, building on the established AGC Chemicals Europe polymerisation technology of fluoropolymer.

Benefits

Universal fibre-matrix adhesion

Fluon+™ COMPOSITES fluoropolymers exhibit strong adhesion to metals such as copper, titanium, and stainless steels. These can be applied as adhesive layers for bonding or laminating CFRTP with metal base materials.

Wide temperature range (-200 up to 260)

Adhesive fluoropolymer retains mechanical strength across a wide range of temperatures.

Impact strength improvement

With the outstanding flexibility of fluoropolymers, the impact resistance of materials can be significantly increased. Fluoropolymers can also reduce the occurrence of microcracks.

Low water absorption

Water absorption properties can be reduced with the addition of fluoropolymers. When these are mixed with base polymers, water absorption diminishes based on the amount added.

Flame retardancy

The flame-retardant properties of fluoropolymers extend to CFRP/CFRTP, improving material durability.

Excellent dielectric properties

Vibration damping

High temperature adhesive

Superior chemical resistance

Fluoropolymers can be combined with other materials through a variety of different methods, with product characteristics dependant on the combination technique and the base polymer or carbon fibre type. AGC Chemicals Europe provides technical support by working closely with customers and proposing composite products that fit their requirements.
