Meet AGC Chemicals Europe
“Your Dreams, Our Challenge”
AGC was founded in 1907 in Japan, initially focusing on the production of flat glass. In 1917, the chemicals business started with the in-house production of soda ash, a raw material vital for the glass manufacture.
The company, headquartered in Tokyo, has four major business units: glass, chemicals, electronics and ceramics with more than 56,000 employees worldwide, making it one of the largest companies in the Mitsubishi group. It is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and was named by Thomson Reuters as one of the Top 100 Global Innovators.
As the world’s largest producer of flat and automotive glass, Fluon® ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) and FORBLUE™ FLEMION ion exchange membranes, AGC’s products are used in various markets, such as the automotive and aerospace industries, semiconductor, architecture, sports arenas, greenhouses, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, pharmaceutical and agrochemical applications as well as in oil and gas.
The European subsidiary, AGC Chemicals Europe, produces Fluon® PTFE and ETFE and markets other fluorinated products, including Fluon® PFA and AFLAS® Fluoroelastomers. The product range offers excellent resistance against heat, chemicals and corrosion, and has a broad base of applications in industrial, automotive, aerospace, oil and gas, and other markets where long-lasting high performance is critical.
Other products, such as LUMIFLON™, the ground-breaking FEVE resin for coatings, RESIFA™ Fine Silica for cosmetics or the FORBLUE™ product line including ion exchange membranes, membrane dryers and ionomers, is sold via the sales office, located in Amsterdam.
AGC is continuously developing its product portfolio to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s environment through technological innovations such as the Fluon+™ range, which enables composite and laminate materials to incorporate the high-performance capabilities of fluoropolymers with the economic and structural benefits of other matrix materials.
The key focus areas for AGC Chemicals Europe include the hydrogen economy, renewable electricity, energy storage, and transportation.
