Fluon® ETFE FILM

Fluon® ETFE FILM is often the material of choice for iconic architectural projects around the globe. From Canary Wharf Crossrail to Chemnitz Hauptbahnhof, this is just a small selection of the case studies highlighting impressive structures where Fluon® ETFE FILM has been implemented. The high-performance film is produced by AGC Chemicals Europe using in-house Fluon® ETFE resin. ETFE Films between 12µm and 250µm thick are manufactured using a unique film-forming method. Its properties include excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, anti-stick properties, electrical insulation properties, and long-term weatherability.

Find out more about some the world-class projects utilising Fluon® ETFE FILM below:

Due to its exceptional durability, UV light transparency, and anti-fouling properties, Fluon® ETFE Film foil is used in a variety of innovative outdoor architectural applications, as well as in greenhouses, solar cells, and interior design. Due to its low surface energy and resistance to both heat and chemicals, Fluon® ETFE FILM is also a mould release film primarily for components in the electronics and aerospace industries.

Solar cells are another major application. In the field of photovoltaics, white and black Fluon® ETFE FILM is used in the manufacture of solar panel backsheets, while transparent ETFE FILM makes up the frontsheets. The film is applied extensively to building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) applications, and its flexibility makes it the material of choice for curved surfaces like flexible solar modules.
